The 2017 edition of the Persian Beauty Awards marked a continuation of independently organized Iranian beauty pageants within the diaspora. Directed by Mr. Abbas Heidari, the event was held in Toronto, reinforcing the city’s role as a key center for Iranian cultural and entertainment activities abroad.

Contestants from across Canada participated in multiple stages of competition, including public appearances, talent showcases, and formal judging sessions. Judging criteria included stage presence, confidence, cultural representation, and overall performance. The event featured live performances, musical acts, and stage productions, creating a dynamic experience that blended beauty pageantry with a cultural show. Appearances by well-known Iranian singers contributed to the event’s appeal and attracted a broad Iranian-Canadian audience. The finalists progressed through several rounds before the final announcement, where Elika Loriamini was awarded the title of Miss Persian 2017.

While the event reflected ongoing efforts by the Iranian diaspora to sustain cultural platforms abroad, it also demonstrated a shift toward more commercially driven productions with greater focus on entertainment and audience engagement.
