In 1973, Iran’s national beauty pageant, organized by Zan-e Rooz magazine, brought together contestants from across the country. Among them, 16-year-old Sousan Hakima was crowned Dokhtareh Shayesteh Iran (Worthy Girl of Iran). Following her national victory, she was selected to represent Iran internationally as Miss Universe Iran 1973.

As part of her role, Sousan traveled to Turkey, where she participated in various public engagements and promotional activities. Although the 1973 Miss Universe pageant was held in Athens, Greece, with 61 contestants from around the world, Iran did not formally compete that year. Sousan was unable to participate because she was only 16 years old, which was below the competition’s minimum age requirement of 18.

Afterward, Sousan Hakima pursued a career in fashion modeling, appearing prominently in advertising and promotional campaigns, including collaborations with Iran Air. Her early recognition in the national pageant helped establish her presence in the fashion industry and the broader public sphere.
