The national pageant was widely celebrated in Iranian society, frequently featured in Zan-e Rooz magazine and attended by prominent cultural and public figures. In 1976, Jelveh Palizban from Kermanshah was crowned Dokhtareh Shayesteh Iran (Worthy Girl of Iran). One of the most memorable aspects of her victory was the prestigious prize she received, which became a symbol of the pageant’s prestige, and the cultural prominence associated with its winners.

Following her national title, Jelveh represented Iran at the Miss Intercontinental pageant, an international competition held on August 7, 1976, at the Holiday Inn Resort in Oranjestad, Aruba. The event brought together 38 delegates from around the world. Although Jelveh did not place among the finalists, her participation marked an important moment in Iran’s presence on the international pageant stage, highlighting the country’s growing visibility in global beauty competitions.

Jelveh later married Jahanshah Palizban. The couple has five children and eventually emigrated to the United States, where they established their family life.
