For thirteen years, Zan-e Rooz women’s magazine served as the organizer of the most prestigious national beauty pageant in Iran, sending many of its winners to international competitions such as International Teen Princess and Miss Continental. A number of participants achieved remarkable success on the global stage, bringing pride to Iran by earning international titles. For many contestants, the pageant was a transformative experience that opened new opportunities and helped shape their personal and professional paths.

The year 1979 holds particular historical significance, as it marked both the final year before the revolution and the last time Zan-e Rooz organized the national Iran’s pageant. In 1979, the competition was held in a slightly different format. Finalists participated in press photo sessions, amusement park visits, and group photography before appearing at the main event. The final night, held at the Tehran Hilton Hotel, showcased for the last time the elegance and grandeur of Miss Iran pageants. Prominent performers—including Vigen, Shahram, Sattar, Hayedeh, Homeyra, Nasrin, and Googoosh—entertained the audience with their performances. Among the contestants, 18-year-old Taraneh Keysar was crowned Worthy Girl of Iran, marking a significant moment in the history of the competition in the country. This event is regarded as the last beauty celebration in Iran, and her title has since become a lasting symbol of a bygone era.
